TERMITE DAMAGE TO MISSION WALKWAY HEADER BEAMS
Color: Brown
A color polaroid photograph of a detail showing dry rot and termite damage to a header beam from the Mission Walkway, 30 March 1977. Two pieces of wood are shown, a square beam with a large section of damage and a thin, more rectangular piece of board with one large hole and some surface damage to it. There appears to be more damage from termites in these two examples than from dry rot. The boards lie on the ground, a few inches from one of the support columns of the arbor, the bottom of which is at the top right of the image. Other than a small weed or plant at the upper right, near the column, there are no other features of note. Toward the bottom of the artifact is the pencil inscription "Header Beams - Showing Termite / Damage & Dry Rot - Temple Arbor / 3/30/77." In good condition, the object shows little indication of wear or damage.
