Color: Yellow "The Art of Cooking and Serving," by Sarah Field Splint (Cincinnati: Procter & Gamble, 1928), pp.252. A hardcover book with a yellow cover, with images of a cook, butler, and housewife working with food. At the top center is the book's title and author's name printed in black within a dark yellow crest. On the lower right corner of the cover are the words, "with 549 tested recipes." The book is divided into 28 chapters, including the index, and covers such subjects as table service in homes with and without servants; cooking equipment and planning meals; deep fat frying; soups, cheese, eggs, cheese, vegetables, and poultry; sauces; sandwiches, salads, and pastries; desserts and candies; large quantity cooking; specialty dishes; seasonal and special occasion menus; and time tables and charts. Many black and white and color tinted photographs accompany the chapters. With abrasions along the spine; dented corners; overall surface soiling; and what appear to be grease or oil stains on the back cover and along the edge of the pages, the object is in overall good condition.
