"The Book of Can Cookery," issued by Woman's World Magazine Co., Inc., 1928. The fifty-page softcover artifact has a black cover with an image of canned food in jars piled in a red wicker basket with other jars on the table around the basket. A butterfly is perched on the basket handle. Below this is the title and a subtitle describing the book as dealing with canned and packed food for quick and tasty meals. Below this, the publisher's name is at the bottom. The back cover is a duplicate of the front. The first page has a description of the book by the head of the publishing company and below that is a list of other publications offered by the company. Pages four and five concern how to use canned foods. Recipes then begin, organized by month, and occasionally accompanied by an image of the dish. On each left and right margin on the pages is a silhouette image with the phrase "All Measurements / Are Level" next to them. After the monthly sections are sections called "Dollar Dinners for Four People;" "Two-Dollar Dinners for Six;" "Buying and Budgeting;" "Diet for Growing Children;" and "The Truth About Vitamins." The last page contains an index. Color illustrations of recipe items adorn the inner covers. With cover abrasions, creases, and dents, as well as some discoloration of pages, the object is otherwise in good condition.Lexicon
