Color: Black; Brown "The Boys' Life of Kit Carson," by Flora Warren Seymour (New York: The Century Company, 1929), 238 pp. The book has a brown hardcover with the title and author's name at the top of the front in black. At the center is a drawing of a man, presumably Kit Carosn, on horseback who wears a buckskin outfit, hat and holds a rifle. The title, author's name, and publisher are on the spine. At the beginning of the inside is a map of the trails Carson used throughout the west. Written in blue ink at the top left of this is, "Nicky Rozsa." Also at the beginning are a title page, table of contents, and a list of illustrations. The artifact contains sixteen chapters with such titles as "A Frontier Boy"; "Unknown California"; "Many Trails"; and "Conquering California." Carson was an apprentice at David Workman's saddlery shop in Franklin, Missouri and this is mentioned in chapter one. Included are some black and white photographs. With light abrasions, small dents, and light stains, the object is in good condition overall.
