BOOKS, "THE CALIFORNIA SCRAP-BOOK," Oscar T. Shuck, compiler (San Francisco: H. H. Bancroft and Company,) 1869. The work is a compendium of essays on California and other seemingly-unrelated topics, arranged by alphabetically-listed topics, including agriculture, archaeology, biography, descriptive, historical (including an essay on the "Pioneer Overlanders of 1841" such as William Workman), humor, literary, mining, speeches, scientific, and others. There are some lithographic illustrations in the work, the cover of which is badly worn and damaged, though the binding is relatively tight and pages generally clean, so the overall condition is poor to fair.Lexicon
