Description

Color: Black; Gold "The Children," by Edith Wharton (New York: D. Appleton and Company,) 1928. The 347-page hardcover book has the title and author's name at the top of the front cover between a floral border above and a magnified portion of that border in one section below. The names of the book, the author, and the publisher are on the spine with the floral border at the top, as well. The novel, Wharton's twelfth published work, was issued in September 1928 and seems to have initially been serialized, as it is copyrighted by the periodical "The Pictorial Review." With abrasions at the spine and corners; dented corners; light soiling on the cover; some darkening of pages; pencilmarks of a price and evidence of a label on the front flyleaf; a small white stain on the back cover; and some losses of the cloth at the corners and spine, the artifact is in good overall condition.
