Description

Color: Black; Red; White "The Children's Book of Celebrated Buildings," by Lorinda Munson Bryant (Third printing, New York: The Century Company, 1924), 106 pp. The red-colored hardcover book is part a) and has the title and author's name slightly above center in a square bordered area on the front. The title and author's last name are on the upper part of the spine, while the publisher's name is at the lower section. Fifty of the world's classic structures, mostly European with some from India, Egypt, Japan, Burma, and Turkey, are described in one page descriptions while black and white photographs of the buildings are on the facing pages. There is an index at the back of the work. Part b) is the dustjacket, which is white with a thin black line border. The title is at the top within the border and the author's name is below. At the lower section is a black and white photo of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain and the publisher's name is below this. At the very top in parentheses is "Third Printing." On the spine is the title and author's last name at the top, the words "Third Printing" at the center, and the publisher's name at the bottom, above which is a logo of a book superimposed over the sun, probably the publisher's logo. On the back is an advertisement for other books by Bryant directed toward children. The book is in good condition, with some water stains on the fly leaf and back pages, while the cover is in fair condition with a tear at the front top edge, a tear at the left center of the back, and red stains from the book's cover seeping onto the dustjacket.
