Description

Color: Black; White "The Embalmers' Monthly," published by the Trade Periodical Company, March 1927. The 70-page magazine has a white paper cover with an illustration of a brick building which has six columns across the front. At the top of the columns is a sloping cornice. A row of trees is behind the structure and at the top is a cloud that extends to the center of the top where the title is located. At the bottom are the words, "PUBLISHED IN THE INTEREST / OF THE ENTIRE / MORTUARY / FIELD." Below this is the date. All of the printing is in black ink. On the back is a letter from the Olinger Mortuary Association to Cunningham Son & Co. thanking them for the quality of their limousines which were recently purchased. At the beginning of the inside are two advertisements for caskets and casket parts, and a title page. There are many articles of interest to morticians and funeral directors covering such subjects as mortuaries in beautiful settings; the annual funeral director's dinner; the burial of swimmer Sybyl Bauer; liability and burial costs; the death rate in Ohio; and ethical advertising. At the back is an index. Many black and white photographs and illustrations, as well as many advertisements for funeral equipment are included. With some abrasions; creases; dented corners; light foxing; surface soiling; and tears at the top and bottom of the spine, the object is in overall fair condition.
