Description

A stereoscopic photograph of the escort for President Theodore Roosevelt's procession, First Street, Los Angeles, 1902. The image is taken from an elevated position in a building and looks out upon the street, where a rider on a horse leads a regimental escort in white uniforms and sashes of what appears to be plant material across a shoulder and down the front. Behind the escort are some vehicles, presumably one carrying the president and first lady. Portions of frame and brick buildings are on one side of the street, while crowds line the walks on either side. An ink inscription on the reverse reads "President Roosevelt Escort / On First St 1902 Los Angeles." With a missing matter corner, wear, and some soiling, the overall condition is good.
