Description

Color: Blue; Red; White; Yellow "The Etude," February 1928 issue, published by the Theodore Presser Co. of Philadelphia. The front cover has the phrase "The Journal of the Musical Home Everywhere" in the top margin. Inside a frame-like border is, at the top, the title of the periodical superimposed over an image of a young girl holding a tuba, an umbrella, and some sheet music and standing on a floor with a covering like piano keys. Seated on the curve of the body of a cello is an older woman reading sheet music. In the background, sitting on a shelf with a bar of musical notation are organ pipes, books, a mandolin-shaped clock, and some flowers. In the foreground right is a combination harp and table. The image is titled "MAZIE'S DREAM AFTER THE ORCHESTRA CONCERT." At the bottom margin is the price, date, and annual subscription rate. The back cover has an ad for a piano manufacturer. An ad by the publisher for sheet music offered by it is on the inside front cover. A section called "The World of Music" is on the first page, followed on the next by a table of contents. There are several dozen articles and features, all a page or two, in the 77-page periodical. Included are reproductions of song scores and there are many black and white photos and drawings, as well as a great many advertisements. In fair condition, the artifact has cover creases, dents at the right corner of the bottom, soiling, tape on the spine, tears at the spine and edges, and yellowing of pages.
