"The Etude," November 1928 issue, published by the Theodore Presser Co. of Philadelphia. The front cover has the phrase "The Journal of the Musical Home Everywhere" at the top, with the title below in white letters, partially superimposed over an image titled "THE MIRACLE AGE IN MUSIC." This shows a family of two parents, a boy, and a girl, seated and listening to a radio, while in the background is a vague image of a concert hall, suggesting the visual complement to what the family hears on the radio. At the bottom are the prices per issue and per year and the month and year of the periodical. Contents include some forty articles on study, technique, and instruction; opera in Milan; children's games; Egyptian music; ear training; scale writing drills for children; and themes of great pieces. There are also several sections of reproduced scores, divided into the categories of "Fascinating Pieces for the Musical Home;" "Classic, Modern and Contemporary Master Works;" "Outstanding Vocal and Instrumental Novelties;" and "Delightful Pieces for Junior Etude Readers." Many black and white photographs and drawings, as well as a great many advertisements are included. In fair condition, the artifact has spine brittleness and tears; cover creases, soiling, stains, and tape repairs on the back; and page discoloration.Lexicon
