"The Etude," October 1928 issue, published by the Theodore Presser Co. of Philadelphia. The front cover has the title at the top in white letters, partially superimposed over an image titled "FOREST VOICES." This shows pine trees playing a violin, cello, horn, and drums, while a boy and girl stare in amazement. At the bottom are the prices per issue and year and the month and date. Contents include some forty articles on study, technique, and instruction; accompaniment; a prize contest; music in rural schools; rhythmic bands; page turning for the pianist; and lessons from great conductors. There are also several sections of reproduced scores, divided into the categories of "Fascinating Pieces for the Musical Home;" "Classic, Modern and Contemporary Master Works;" "Outstanding Vocal and Instrumental Novelties;" and "Delightful Pieces for Junior Etude Readers." Many black and white photographs and drawings, as well as a great many advertisements are included. In fair condition, the artifact has spine abrasions; cover creases, including one running diagonally across the entire front, soiling, stains, and tears; a slightly loose cover; and page discoloration.Lexicon
