2008.429.1.1Description
The facade and entrance of Sunland Market, Hollywood, Los Angeles, 1925. The view, taken from the street, shows a lighted marquee and an awning with "MEATS GROCERIES DELICATESSEN" printed on it above the store, which has a building-width opening. At the center are crates of fresh fruits, while cases and counters are at either side. There are four or five persons posed at both sides of the interior of the business, which was located in the Echo Park neighborhood. The photo is pasted onto a matte, on the reverse of which is an ink inscription: "Sunset Meat Market / 1444 Sunset Blvd. / Los Angeles, Calif / C. C. Higging, Prop Meat Mkt / 1925." With some edge rubbing and very light soiling, the condition is good.
