Color: Black, white "The Farmer and the Republican Committee" (n.p.: Republican National Committee, 1928), 87 pp. Printed on plain paper, folded in half and bound by two staples, the front page has a dual black-line border within which is the title, a subtitle of "A Review of Seven Years of Repub- / lican Legislation and Administration / in Behalf of American Agriculture." At the center in italics is a quote from the Presidential nomination acceptance speech of Herbert Hoover (see 98.42.2.2 for the speech.) At the bottom is the committee name and issuance date. The review consists of the major issues of: legislation passed since 1921; the deflation of prices under Democrats in 1920; farm credits; emergency measures implemented; land bank activity; warehousing laws; Republican and Democratic proposals for improving the lot of the farmer, including marketing, taxes, labor, prices, and tariffs; analyses of various products, such as wheat, butter, lifestock; wages and profits; international competition; railroad freighting rates; and the failure of Democrats to propose viable policies. There are tables with financial information on America's agriculture industry. With some surface soiling and discoloration, the artifact is in good overall condition.
