Description

A snapshot photograph of the flood swollen Los Angeles River and damage on the bank, 20 February 1914. The photographer stood next to a railroad track, which is twisted from bank cave-ins, while the river is at the left filled with rushing water. In the background is a cement factory perched on the edge of the disappearing river bank. An inscription on the reverse reads "Looking south along Los Angeles River from ----- [unreadable] street Bridge. The railroad ran between the river and building before the flood. Feb. 20-1914." There is a tear at the bottom margin and damage on the bottom reverse, but the overall condition is good.
