Description

"The Gold Room" bar, Los Angeles, 1913. The view shows the long bar with Greek Revival columns, footrest, spittoons, shelves along the wall with liquor bottles, an ornate mirror, cash register, framed pictures of women and a stockroom at the far left. The barkeep, wearing a white jacket, pours a drink, while four customers in suit and tie, stand along the bar, with one man near an open box of cigars, which two of the others hold in their hands. Pasted down on the reverse is an ink inscription: "The Gold Room Bar on St. Pedro St. / Between 1st and 2nd St / Prop. Frank Elencanfs [sp?], Bartender / Chas. Schroeder / Taken 1913." With some stains, scratches, soiling and rubbing, mainly to the matte, the overall condition is good.
