The work is divided into three parts: "The City," defining a city, discussing the merits of planning, and inquiring into whether cities were dying; "The Anti-City," referring to urban and suburban sprawl, inner-city decay, misuse of resources and the problems with architecture; and "The Counterattack," oulining Gruen's solutions for urban problems, including addressing automobile-driven settlement patterns, new types of transportation, and generally converting inner cities from a focus on accomodating cars to allowing for pedestrian uses, landscaping and public spaces. The book is in good condition with only slight wear to the jacket and cover.
