"The Land of Sunshine," December 1896 (Vol. VI, No. 1). The item is subtitled "The Christmas Number" and yet none of the contents deal with holiday themes. There is material on Navajo blankets, the California wild pigeon, the Los Angeles City Oil Field (with a map,) and a lengthy photo-illustrated feature on Los Angeles as "The Queen of the Southwest." There is also poetry, illustrations and regular features, as well as many local advertisements. With a loose from wrapper and soiling and edge tears on the wrappers with clean pages, the condition is fair.Lexicon
