Description

"The Los Angeles State Normal School: A Quarter Centennial History, 1882-1907." The work has an essay with illustrations covering the 25-year history of the teacher training institution, which evolved into the University of California, Los Angeles, while its location later became that of the city's Central Public Library. The essay also discussed present conditions, staff, students, the library and other components, athletics and more. There are also lists of trustees, school presidents, and faculty members over its history and for the 1906-07 academic year. At the back is a long recitation of graduates from June 1884 to January 1907, including 1902 kindergarten training class graduate Mary Julia Workman, grandniece of William Workman, who went on to be a leader in kindergarten education in Los Angeles. With weapper bumping, creases and light soiling and generally clean pages, the condition is overall good.
