"The Los Angeles Trip Book" by Katherine Ames Taylor (New York and London: G. P. Putnam's Sons/The Knickerbocker Press, 1928,) 94 pp. The hardcover book has the title in gold letters at the top of the front and the title and author's last name on the spine. On the inside of the covers are maps of the region with cities, natural features, such as mountains, oil wells, landmarks for certain areas, such as the Mission at San Gabriel and some place locations, such as Mt. Wilson or Palos Verdes indicated. Some of the sitings are off, such as Pomona at the bank of the San Gabriel River. After the title page and foreword, the book contains eight chapters concerning: fourteen driving trips in the region; a brief historical sketch of Los Angeles; dining; shopping; Hollywood; visits to the mountains; trips to the seaside areas; and excursions to the foothill regions. A postscript concludes the work, which is illustrated by many photographs. The name of a previous owner is inscribed on a flysheet. With abrasions to the cover corners, fading of the spine lettering, and some browning of pages, the book is in good overall condition.Lexicon
