The periodical has a gold leaf-and-vine design within a blue-colored background border and the words "SCIENCE;" "TRAVEL;" "ART;" "HISTORY;" "LITERATURE" in scrolls placed within these designs. An image, in blue and gold, of Russian empress Catherine II, covers much of the cover. At the bottom are the words "PERSONALITY NUMBER: CATHERINE THE GREAT AND OTHER / WOMEN FAMOUS IN HISTORY AND ROMANCE - Fully Illustrated." There are many black and white photographs and other illustrations, as well as many advertisements. With creased corners; dented cover edges; general surface soiling; some discoloration; losses on the spine; pencil marks on the back; stains on the cover; rust at former staple locations; tears at the spine; and general cover wear; the object is in poor condition.
