Description

Color: Black; White; Red A program for the The Mission Play, 1928. The front cover of the artifact has the word "PROGRAM" in large red letters at the top and the play title, author's name, location, date and note that it was the seventeenth consecutive year of offering. An image of a dancing woman in a flowing red shawl in front of mission buildings comprises most of the cover. On the back are advertisements for the Mt. Lowe resort, a souvenir book of the Mission Play and listing of paintings on exhibit in the theater lobby, including title, artist's name, and price offered. There are many advertisements, some with photographs, within the program as well for businesses in San Gabriel, El Monte, and Los Angeles. The first page lists the names of staff involved in the play, ncluding stage, office, and entertainment coordinators. A short description of the prelude is on page two, with the listing of scenes, characters and actors within the acts follow on subsequent pages. Aside from some minor creasing and a full-length vertical fold where the artifact was rolled up, the artifact is good overall condition.
