"The Music Map of the World," published by The New York Edison Company, second edition, April 1928. The front cover of the 59-page book has a medieval looking music transcript with the title interposed between the bars. At the center is a cartoon figure of an 18th-century man holding a globe on a planter. On the inside front is a color foldout map showing the birthplaces of great composers in Europe and the Americas. After a foreword, contents include notes on programs by the Edison Ensemble on station WRNY in New York and explanations of ancient and national music, as well as scales. Listings of radio programs follow giving the pieces and composers, as well as the date and time of the broadcasts. Text accompanies each geographically arranged program, in their order of appearance from February 21, 1928, including the near East, Latin America, European countries, the Americas, and so forth, through Hawaii and the Far East, on July 10. At the end are the names, dates, and birthplaces of spotlighted composers and a list of twenty-six topical talks broadcast on WRNY's The New York Edison Hour. A few blank note pages complete the item, which is in good condition with spine abrasions, corner creases, back and bottom dents, surface soiling on the cover, slight page yellowing, cover stains, and staple tarnish. There are also two owner's inscriptions; one on the top right of the front cover and one on the top left of the inside of that cover.Lexicon
