Description

Color: Red; Yellow "The National Message," issued by the National Casket Company, November 1929. The 16-page booklet has a yellow paper cover with the title at the center of the top in black. Below this in red ink is the volume number, date, and issue number. At the center is a red and yellow illustration of a puppy which has dark fur on the right ear and around the right eye. It sits while having its right paw on a basket's handle. The basket is at the left of the front and inside of it are some vegetables and a dead turkey. On the back is a note reminding readers of the place in history that some books have and can have. At the beginning of the inside is an advertisement for casket supports, a title page, and a note on notifying the publisher of any changes in address. Throughout the artifact are many humorous stories, jokes, and articles on being a successful salesman. Some of the article titles are "The Key," "Swapping Jobs," and "'When' Selling." At the back is an advertisement for the National-Kissel Ambulance. Also included are some line-drawings. With light creases and some surface soiling, the object is in overall good condition.
