"The New Karpen Styles and Values," issued by the Pasadena Furniture Company, ca. 1920. The 24-page catalog has a brown cardstock cover with an illustration of a couch and drapery at the front. The title is also at the center within a rectangle, and the name of the manufacturer is at the bottom. On the back is an illustration of a multi-story building with the caption, "Ten floors in / a location that / enables us to / make lower / prices." At the beginning of the inside is a foreword. Throughout the booklet is an introduction to Karpen brand furniture and a listing of a wide variety of couches, chairs, and tables. Suggestions for proper furniture placement in the home are also included with many sepia photographs. At the end is a customer service guarantee and an advertisement for the manufacturer's drapery department. The estimate date is determined because the building on the back was the company's location prior to 1924, as per city directory listings. With creases; dents; heavy soiling; stains; and small tears, the artifact is in poor condition.
