Description

A cabinet photograph of the Orlando Moor house, Garden City Photo Company, Los Angeles, 1899. The view is from the street and shows a man, woman, and girl on or near the stairs of the raised one-story foursquare house, while a woman stands at the top of a driveway at the far left. A retaining wall, lawn and somewhat mature landscaping, including palm trees, are also of note. There is an identifying inscription in pencil on the reverse, as well as preprinted information for the photographer and the item number. Moor, in 1900, lived at South Hope Street, but, by 1910, was at West Twenty-Third Street, so it is not known if this is one of those residences. With image heavily faded and soiling and soiling and edge rubbing to the mount, the condition is poor.
