Description
The Ortega-Vigare Adobe at San Gabriel with Luz Vigare, her children and her sister Laura González, Garden City Foto Company, ca. 1900. The view is from Santa Anita Avenue looking east at the front of the adobe, which dates back to the late 18th century and which is just south of the Mission San Gabriel. Luz González Vigare sits on the porch in a rocking chair holding a baby while four of other children stand or sit near. Laura González stands in profile and holds a guitar (also part of this accession) in her right hand. Also of note are trailing vines planted at the porch and trees, bushes and shrubs in the yard. On the reverse is the name and address of Vigare's daughter Lupe Ballard, whose daughter donated the photo. With significant tears and creases, stains, soiling and damage to the matte, the condition is fair.
