2008.295.1.1Description
"The Pacific Highway from San Diego, Calif. to Vancouver, B. C.", issued by the Automobile Club of Southern California, 1926. The item has a striking image of Spanish explorers juxtaposed with modern motorists at a mission. There is a general map of entire route followed by section maps, in the same format as the common strip maps issued by the club, and a description of those portions of the route. From page 67 is an alternate inland route from San Diego to Red Bluff, which includes the eastern San Gabriel Valley and Valley Boulevard as one path. From page 89 are side trips to National Parks and other scenic areas. At the back are mileage tables and memoranda pages, which are filled with documentation of a 1927 trip, including pasted in additional pages. At the front appears to be a list of yearly trips taken by a former owner from 1912 to 1940. With much cover wear, mainly soiling and creases, with pages generally clean, the overall condition is fair.Lexicon
