Description

The Phil LaToska smoke shop, Los Angeles, ca. 1920s. The image shows a man, presumably the proprietor, standing behind the counter of the small space that has cases in a front counter and cabinets in the walls filled with cigarettes, cigars and other tobacco products. Some advertising displays, such as for "El Primo" cigars and "Lucky Strike" cigarettes are in view. On the reverse is a stamp for the business, located on West Sixth Street, but gives the owner's name as Phil Love. LaToska was a stage name for Love, who was also an actor. With heavy soiling and some abrasions and fading, the overall condition is fair.
