Description

The photograph shows the interior of a grocery store on South Hill Street, Los Angeles, ca. 1900s. The view shows a man, presumably the proprietor, standing in the middle of the establishment. Along the walls are shelves filled with can goods and other products, while on the floor are bulk items, more cans, bottles and boxes items on and in cases and on the floor. A barrel is next to a counter with bar stools in front of it. An ink inscription on the reverse reads, "Milton's father John in his grocery store on South Hill." With stains, tape repaired damage at the upper right, stains and soiling on the matte and a slightly soiled photo, the overall condition is fair.
