"The Quarterly, Historical Society of Southern California, Volume 18, Numbers 1-3, 1936," printed by Ward Ritchie. The green clothbound book with speckled paper has gold printing on the spine including the organization name and publication year. The three publications are bound inside, including the original wrappers, and are page-numbered consecutively. Number one (March 1936) consists of 32 pages, and a list of members after the pagination, and includes an editor's note, three articles, a book review, and a list of Society meetings for the first three months of the year. Number two (June 1936) consists of 39 pages, and contains an editor's page, five articles, and a list of Society meetings. Number three (September-December 1936) consists of 23 numbered pages, including an essay on the 1836 Los Angeles district census, followed by a facsimile of the census following for 64 pages. There are two fold-out illustrations at the front sections of the first two numbers. On the inside front cover is the ex-libris label of a former owner. With little evidence of use and, therefore, of wear, the artifact is in good condition.Lexicon
