2011.51.1.4Description
A snapshot photograph, "The Ranch-house at Rancho de Los Tres Hermanos," 16 September 1925. The image shows cattle grazing near a reservoir in the foreground, while in the distance, atop a low hill is the ranch house (see item .2 for a view of the porch.) The ranch was purchased in 1914 by William Benjamin Scott, William R. Rowland and Harry Chandler, partners in the Columbia Oil Producing Company who bought, in 1914, the 2,500 acre ranch in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties in present-day Diamond Bar and Chino Hills and, thus, were the "three brothers" in the ranch name. The title and date are inscribed in ink on the reverse by original owner Pauline Hoffman Herd. With some light soiling, the condition is good.
