Description
"The Romance of the Age or the Discovery of Gold in California," Edward E. Dunbar (New York: D. Appleton and Company,) 1867. The work is a very general history of California during the American conquest and Gold Rush years, with a significant portion of the text devoted to the voyage of the first steamship travel from New York to San Francisco, of which the author was a passenger, in late 1848 and early 1849. While the text block is tight and clean, the spine is very worn and the boards have stains, scratches, and bumped corners, so the condition is fair.
