Description

Color: Blue; Gold "The Romantic Southland of California," by Marshall Breeden (Los Angeles; The Kenmore Publishing Co.,) 1928. The 207-page hardcover book has a blue cover with the title, author's name, and a map of the region in gold at the top center of the front. On the spine is the title, author's last name, and a shortened name of the publisher. Essentially a travelogue, the book has thirty-one chapters, with some being geographically oriented and others more directed toward notable landmarks or features of the region, such as hotels, the missions, the Mission Play, the Hollywood Bowl, movie theaters, and so on. Fifteen maps and several dozen color illustrations, five in full color on the inside of the covers and end pages, and the rest in the text color tinted, are included. With heavy liquid stains on the cover; spine abrasions; a loose binding; dogeared corners; soiling; page browning; faded cover lettering; and general wear, the overall condition is fair.
