Description
"The Siera [sic] Madre Hotel, San Gabriel Valley, California," published by Continent Stereoscopic Company, ca. 1880s. The view shows the main hotel building, as well as a smaller structure at the right, of what was actually known as the "Sierra Madre Villa," in what is now the neighborhood of the same name in northeast Pasadena. In the foreground is what appears to be an orchard or vineyard. In the background is the base of the fog-shrouded San Gabriel (then known as the Sierra Madre) Mountains. With soiling, stains, and edge rubbing, the overall condition is fair.
