Description

"The Story of Gainsborough Heath and the Old Adobe," by O. Nicholas Gabriel, published by J.B. Ransom Company and printed by Stowell and Sinsabaugh, Los Angeles, 1928. The item is a promotional publication for the subdivision by the Ransom company of the Luther H. Titus ranch, Dewdrop, for houses and estates in the city of San Marino. Gabriel's narrative refers to a ca. 1770 adobe house, occupied and enlarged by Titus, and, in 1928, called "La Ramada Inn" and meant to be a community events facility. There are two maps, one a detail of the subdivision, and the other showing it in relation to Los Angeles and nearby locales. With tears, stains, creases, damaged corners, and fading to the wrappers, while the pages are clean, the overall condition is fair.
