Description

"The Trackless Trolley (First in America)," published by the Benham Company, Los Angeles, ca. 1900s. The image is a colored photograph of two of the cars passing each other on Laurel Canyon Road in the Santa Monica Mountains. The card are attached to electric wires running over the unpaved roadway and there is lush landscaping on either side and portions of the mountains, as well. On the reverse is information on the Pacific Electric Railway's Balloon Route Trolley Trip and the trackless trolley, which served a real estate development by Laurel Canyon Utilities Company. There is also a message in ink describing the trip. With some creases, edge rubbing and light soiling, the overall condition is good.
