Description

"THE UNITED STATES MAGAZINE AND DEMOCRATIC REVIEW," VOL. XXIV, 1849 Color: Brown; Green; Black "The United States Magazine and Democratic Review," Volume XXIV, New Series, January-June 1849. The volume contains material on a wide variety of current affairs in the United States and abroad, but of particular interest are articles on California gold, a visit to the territory, and the prospects of the newly conquered American territory on pages 3, 70 and 412. The first two appeared in the January issue and the third in the May issue. With cover rubbing, brittleness and flaking of the leather, dented corners, soiling, scratches, and tears, and page acid burns (flysheets from the covers), soiling on edges, browning, foxing, losses to the back flysheet at the bottom left, and stains, the general condition is fair.
