Description
Book, "The Violet: A Christmas and New Year's Gift for 1842" (Philadelphia: Carey and Hart,) 1842. The work is a typical example of an anthology of fiction, poetry, and historical articles intended for the "moral instruction" of young people and is well-illustrated. The spine has separated, the binding is weakened, and there is significant edge rubbing, soiling, and stains to the boards, with foxing and soiling to pages, so the condition is poor.
