Description

Color: Black; White A reproduction photograph of the Water Tower at the Homestead, ca. 1932. The image, taken during the occupancy of the Golden State Military Academy, shows the tower from the southeast, close to where the garage once stood. Notable is the opening at the south end, with the doors either removed or wide open, the water tank at the third level, and the open platform at the top of the roof, with the access on the south gable (rather than the reproduced entrance on the north end today), and the flagpole. There are two pillars with wooden gates, like those around La Casa Nueva now about fifteen feet from the southern side. At the far left is a small portion of the original pump house. A chain-link or wire fence is the enclosure and a variety of trees, mainly palms surround the tower. In the foreground may be part of a walkway, and some branches of a large tree are at the top left. As a newly-created artifact, the photo is in mint condition. Number-Units: 1
