Description

Color: Black; White A black and white negative of Thomas and Gabriela Temple in Mexican costume, ca. 1934. Gabriela is in front, curtsying and wearing a satin dress with black lace or cotton at the neckline and a single stripe toward the lower part; a black lace mantilla; and a white flower in her hair. Standing behind her and to the left is Thomas, wearing a charro outfit, consisting of a dark-colored jacket and vest with gold buttons and much decorative detailing; a white short; dark cravat; and black pants and shoes. He holds a broad-brimmed black hat in his right hand. The two are posed on a lawn in front of a building with arched walls in an arcade and a white-walled structure with square windows. The location is not known, but it is assumed to be an event for the San Gabriel Fiesta, specifically the pioneer reception, which the two hosted from 1934 to 1971. The image is in good condition.
