96.18.1.1Description
A black and white photograph mounted on a brown paper matte of Thomas Temple, 1923, presented to his aunt Lucinda Temple Zuniga, probably about 5 January 1924 (see 96.18.2). Thomas is shown in a studio portrait in part profile wearing a dark colored suit with white dress shirt and plaid bowtie. He holds a lit cigarette in his right hand and has his left at his hip. There are no other items visible in the photograph. The photo is in good condition, though the paper matte is torn, folded, and stained. A gift of Pepita Zuniga Duron, niece of Thomas' aunt, Lucinda Temple Zuniga. An inscription by Thomas in ink reads "Tia Lucinda/Tiernos Recuerdos de su.../que nunca la.../Toma..."--the dots indicate where the text was interrupted by cutting of the image. Also in pencil on the paper matte just below the lower left corner of the photograph is "Carolyn W. Edus [?]/Redhill [?] 1923."
