Description

THOMAS TEMPLE AND EIGHT UNKNOWN WOMEN IN COSTUME Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of Thomas Temple with eight unknown women, all in costume, ca. 1920s. The group stands at the center on a flagstone floor. Temple is at the center wearing a charro suit and holding a hat in his right hand. The women at his left and right wear a variety of Spanish dresses, manitllas, and combs. Behind the group is a large arch which is believed to be the Mission Play House. The arch has a crest at the center of the top. On the wall at the far right is part of an iron light fixture. Stamped at the bottom left corner of the back is the number "7." The image was housed in Agnes Temple's photo album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With some water damage and three small stains, the artifact is in fair condition. Number-Units: 1
