The engagement photograph of Gabriela Quiroz and Thomas W. Temple II, 1934, taken by Curtis Studios, Los Angeles. Gabriela is standing at left, turned sideways toward her left, and wears a short-sleeved white lace dress with long train and much embroidery. She holds a book in her hands, which rest on a plant stand, covered with a white shawl with floral designs; intricate edge work and tassels. There is a plant in a varicolored pot on this stand. Thomas is seated in a dark wood chair, wearing a black suit; patterned vest; white shirt; large cravat; waist chain; white handkercheif in the coat pocket; and dark shoes. One hand is at his lapel and the other on his knee. At the lower right corner is the photographer's mark. The image measures 8 1/2"H x 6"H mounted on a deckle-edge piece of paper within a dual black-line border. Except for light surface soiling and adhesive residue on the back from preparation for mounting and framing, there is little indication of wear or damage and the object is in good condition.
