Description

THOMAS W. TEMPLE II BY THE MISSION WALKWAY SOUTHEAST GATE Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of Thomas W. Temple II by the Mission Walkway's southeast gate, ca. 1924. Temple stands at the center and wears a sweater over a collared shirt, riding trousers, and knee-high boots. He holds a pipe in his left hand while the right is at his waist. The ground around him is unpaved. The opened gate is at the left while one of the walkway's arches is at the far right. Under the arch is a stack of adobe bricks. Part of La Casa Nueva's south end, under construction, which includes the wings and courtyard, is visible through the gate and behind the walkway wall. The home's walls are plastered and the tile on the portico roof is in place, although there is much debris in the courtyard area. The beams across the second-floor patios are missing. Written in blue pencil at the top left corner of the top is, "RALPH & CAROL TEMPLE COLLECTION / THOMAS TEMPLE, SE MISSION / WALKWAY GATE." Negatives to the images in the accession are .2.1-.10. The artifact is in good condition with no signs of wear or damage. Number-Units: 1
