Description

THOMAS W. TEMPLE II NEXT TO A BELL AT AN UNIDENTIFIED MISSION Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of Thomas W. Temple II standing next to a bell at an unidentified California mission, ca. 1928. Thomas wears a dark-colored suit, white shirt, dark-colored tie, and dark shoes and has his hands behind his back. Behind and next to him is a bell held from a simple wood support, consisting of two posts and a crossbeam. On the post directly behind Thomas is a vine growing up the post and on part of the beam. Between the posts and under the bell, amidst a large grass lawn, are a few pieces of stone, perhaps flagstone. In the background is a colonnade with basic wooden posts, a tiled roof that is along a one-story adobe building. A portion of a church is at far left, including a gabled roof, and a large cross tops the structure. At the lower left corner of the reverse is the stamped number "45." With some major water damage and remnants of mounting corners at the top left and right corners and damage at the top and left edges, the image is in fair condition. Number-Units: 1
