Description

THOMAS W. TEMPLE II POSED NEXT TO A CAR PARKED NEAR A HOUSE Color: Black; White A photograph of Thomas W. Temple II posed next to a car parked in front of a house, probably in Massachusetts, ca. 1928. Taken from the street, the image only captures the upper torso of Temple, who wears a jacket and vest, probably gray, a white shirt, and dark tie. His right arm leans on the hood of the car, of which part of the front, hood, windshield, and cabin hood are visible. A house is partially visible at left and has a steeply pitched two-gabel roof, leaded windows, and siding that hint at Tudor-style elements. A pine, or other evergreen, tree is next to the house and there are several bare trees in the background, suggesting a winter or early spring date for the image. On the back, however, is a stamp from Anderson Photo Service in El Monte, so it may be that the image was taken in New England and the film traveled with Thomas for development locally. At the upper left of the back is the stamped number "25" while the brand name "VELOX" is preprinted throughout. In good condition overall, the item has minor surface soiling on the reverse, bowing of the paper, and dented corners. Number-Units: 1
