Description
THOMAS W. TEMPLE II TO WALTER P. TEMPLE, CIRCA AUGUST 1927
A letter from Thomas W. Temple II to Walter P. Temple, no date, but circa August 1927. The letter is on a folded sheet of blue-colored Santa Fe railroad company letterhead and has the company logo with the words "Observation Car" underneath at the top center. At the right is the printed phrase "En Route" with Thomas' handwritten "To Chicago" filled in. In the letter, written on his return trip from California to New England, Thomas describes his journey; discusses the next two years of work (if taken as school years, this is why the letter may be 1927); contemplates attending Oxford University after concluding at Harvard; and has some rather harsh words for Maud Bassity regarding her treatment of household staff at the Homestead, particularly her brother, foreman Frank Romero. The letter is in good condition with folds in half; some creases; and minor discoloration.
