Description

Three promissory notes and an envelope from F.P.F. Temple, 1869-1870. The first two notes were made out by John Goller, with Temple as surety, to Marsh, Pilsbury and Company of San Francisco for $6168.87 and $6449.30, both on 8 June 1869, while the third was by Wilbur Curtiss, also with Temple as surety, to Schafer and Company of San Francisco for $4,000 on 15 September 1869. Temple paid these notes on 8 June, 8 October and 15 September, respectively with the usual stamps and notations, while the envelope recorded the transactions. With folds, some soiling, and the lower right corner of b) torn as was usual for a redeemed note, the condition is generally fair.
