Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of three unknown friends of Thomas Temple, ca. 1920s. The men stand across the center on a dirt area. The man at the left wears a tie; collared shirt; sweater vest which has two lines across the bottom; white riding pants; knee-high boots; and spurs. He has both hands in his pants' pockets and smiles at the camera. The man at the middle tilts his head back and wears a collared shirt; jacket; long coat; riding pants; knee-length boots; and spurs. Under the left arm he holds a wide-brim hat. The man at the right wears a tie; collared shirt; a swade jacket which is buttoned at the bottom; knee-length boots; and spurs. He smiles at the camera and has the right hand in the jacket's side pocket and the right arm down at the side. At the bottom center of the foreground is the photographer's shadow and at the center of the back is a tree. Across the back is an unpaved road with two automobiles parked at the left. Across the background is a short stone wall and a hill with many leaf-less trees scattered throughout. Behind the trees at the far right is a two-story home. Stamped twice on the back is the word, "VELOX." The photograph was housed in Agnes Temple's album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With many heavy stains along the top, the artifact is in poor condition. Number-Units: 1
